Online bookings

Can you track completed Halaxy online bookings?

Yes, on Halaxy's own booking page. Paste a Google tag ID into the practitioner or location's Tracking settings and it fires as patients start a booking, pick a service, reach payment and complete. Halaxy does not say whether the iframe passes that tag through like the direct link does, so use the link if the ad or search source matters.

Method
A single Google tag field (accepts GTM-, GT-, G- or AW- prefixed IDs) set on the practitioner or location profile, applied to Halaxy's own booking page
On mobile
Test tag firing on a real phone separately from desktop. If you are using the iframe embed on mobile and it is forced into a horizontal scroll (see our a2-halaxy-bookings-website guide), patients are more likely to abandon before the booking step your tag is meant to fire on, which will understate your conversion count for reasons that have nothing to do with the tag itself.
Can you track bookings?
Partly. Halaxy is unusually direct about this compared to other vendors in this cluster: you install one Google tag and it tracks the whole booking funnel, including completion, without a separate postMessage script or a manually built GA4 event. The gap is that Halaxy's help centre never distinguishes the iframe embed from the direct link, and does not mention cross domain measurement at all, so you are trusting general iframe behaviour rather than a documented Halaxy statement for the embed case.

Add Halaxy bookings to your website

  1. Decide whether patients reach Halaxy through the iframe embed or the direct booking link (see our a2-halaxy-bookings-website guide). The tag setup below is the same either way, but only the link is documented to reliably carry a visitor's context onto Halaxy's page.
  2. Set the practitioner or location's directory profile to at least Enabled not searchable, since online bookings will not work from a Hidden profile.

Track the bookings

  1. In Halaxy, go to Personal > Profile > Directory Profile Preferences (for a practitioner) or Personal > Locations (for a location), open the Tracking tab, and paste your tag ID. Halaxy accepts GTM-XXXXXX (a Google Tag Manager container), GT-XXXXXX or G-XXXXXX (a GA4 stream), or AW-XXXXXX (a Google Ads tag) directly, so you do not need a separate GTM container just to get a GA4 tag onto the page.
  2. Halaxy's own wording is that the tag tracks 'when patients start a booking, select a service or time, open the payment page, or complete the booking.' If you install a GTM container, check its Data Layer in Preview mode against each of those steps rather than assuming a Page View trigger will catch all of them; Halaxy's booking pages behave like the single page apps other vendors in this cluster describe, where a step change does not always produce a full page load.
  3. If you need the visitor's original ad or search source, not just the fact that a booking happened, use the direct booking link rather than the iframe embed. Halaxy does not publish guidance either way, but a cross domain iframe cannot see anything your page knows about how the visitor arrived unless that information is explicitly passed through, while a normal link keeps the referrer and any UTM parameters intact by default.
  4. In GA4, mark the relevant event as a key event, then in Google Ads go to Goals > Conversions > Import > Google Analytics 4 properties and select it. You need at least Marketer access in Google Ads to complete the import.
  5. Fallback with no tag involved: Reports > Appointment in Halaxy can be filtered by Appointment Source: Booked online, and the FAQ notes you can also check an individual appointment's Created date on the calendar. Neither tells you the marketing channel, but both confirm the booking count is real before you trust a GA4 number against it.

One tag, the whole funnel, if you use the link

Halaxy's approach is more complete than most vendors in this cluster document. A single field, labelled Google Tag Manager ID in the interface but described as accepting GTM, GT, G or AW prefixed values, is set once on a practitioner or location profile and applies across every step Halaxy lists: starting a booking, choosing a service or time, opening the payment page, and completing the booking. That is closer to a proper funnel than the single "booking confirmed" event most competitors offer.

What Halaxy's help centre does not say is whether that tag fires the same way when the booking calendar is embedded in an iframe on your own site versus reached by a direct link to Halaxy's own page. In both cases the tag lives on Halaxy's page, not yours, so the events themselves should fire regardless. The open question is what those events know about where the visitor came from.

Why the link is the safer bet for source data

An iframe is, by design, a separate document loaded from a separate address. Nothing your website's Google Tag Manager or GA4 setup knows, including which ad or search term brought the visitor to your page, is automatically visible to a tag running inside that iframe unless it is deliberately passed through, for example as a query parameter on the embed's source URL. Halaxy's documentation does not describe doing that.

A direct link to Halaxy's booking page does not have that specific problem: it is a normal navigation, and the browser sends the referring URL, plus any UTM parameters on the link, along with the request. That still means the Halaxy side event is happening on a different domain to your own analytics property, so if you need the original marketing source stitched to the booking, you still need to either configure Google Analytics cross domain measurement between your site and Halaxy's, or make sure your booking links carry UTM parameters that Halaxy's tag can read. Given Halaxy has not published guidance on either the iframe or cross domain case, treat both as something to test with a real, tagged booking rather than assume from the tag's presence alone.
