Online bookings

How to add Halaxy online bookings to your clinic website

Halaxy offers both an iframe embed code and a plain link/button, generated from Directory Profile Preferences. It also lists your practice free in its own public directory, where patients can book without visiting your website, worth knowing before you embed it.

Method
Iframe embed code, or a direct link/button to Halaxy's hosted booking page (both generated under Directory Profile Preferences)
On mobile
The iframe embed inherits your page's width, so test it at phone width specifically: a fee list with several columns can force a horizontal scroll inside the frame. If that happens, the direct link (which opens Halaxy's own responsive booking page instead of squeezing it into your layout) is the more reliable mobile option.
Can you track bookings?
Partly. Halaxy supports a Google tag (GTM-, GT-, G- or AW- prefixed IDs) pasted directly into the practitioner or location profile, and it fires at each step of the booking flow, including completion. Halaxy's help centre does not say whether that tag behaves differently for the iframe embed versus the direct link, and the usual cross domain limits that apply to any iframe still apply here. See our Halaxy bookings tracking guide for the setup and the safer of the two methods.

Add Halaxy bookings to any website builder

  1. In Halaxy, set your practitioner and location profiles to Public under Directory Profile Preferences so patients can find and book you (a profile set to Hidden cannot take online bookings at all).
  2. Go to Personal > Locations, open the location's Online Directory section and confirm online bookings are switched on, with your fees, services and appointment lock out settings configured under Manage online booking preferences.
  3. Go to Personal > Profile > Directory Profile Preferences and open the Embed tab. Copy the practitioner profile URL, the location profile URL, or the location's online booking page URL depending on where you want patients to land.
  4. For a booking calendar sitting inside your own page, copy the HTML embed code from the same screen and paste it into your website's source (a Custom HTML block in WordPress, an Embed element in Squarespace, Wix or Webflow).
  5. For a specific fee or appointment type, generate a dedicated booking link (and, optionally, a QR code) from Finances > Fees > Generate Booking Links, or from the appointment type's own Booking Links section.
  6. Publish the page and test the full flow, embed and link both, on a phone and a desktop, before pointing paid traffic at it.

Track the bookings

  1. Paste your Google tag ID into Directory Profile Preferences (or the location's Online Directory settings) under the Tracking tab.
  2. Prefer the direct booking link over the iframe embed if keeping the referring ad or search source matters, until Halaxy documents otherwise.

The free directory is competing with your own website

Halaxy's core platform, including "Online Bookings and Directory," is free for any practitioner. Setting your profile to Public does two things at once: it lets your website embed or link to your booking page, and it lists you in Halaxy's own public directory, where patients search for a practitioner without ever landing on your website first.

That is a genuine trade off. A clinic that spends on its own website and Google Ads is competing, on the same platform, with every other Halaxy practitioner in the same suburb who has simply set their profile to Public and done nothing else. If a booking happens through the directory rather than your website, it is one less reason for that patient to remember your brand, or return to your site next time, even though the appointment still lands in your calendar.

The alternative, setting a profile to "Enabled not searchable," keeps online bookings working from your own links while removing you from Halaxy's directory search results. It is worth deciding deliberately rather than leaving the default in place.

Embed or link: Halaxy gives you both

Unlike some practice software that only supports a hosted page, Halaxy's Embed tab under Directory Profile Preferences gives you an actual HTML embed code as well as plain URLs for the practitioner profile, the location profile and the booking page itself. You can also generate a link, and a QR code, for one specific fee or appointment type from Finances > Fees or from an appointment type's own settings.

Which one you use changes what the patient sees, not what lands in your calendar. The embed keeps the calendar inside your page. The link sends them to Halaxy's own booking page, which is Halaxy's standard practice for any cross domain widget: the browser treats it as a separate site, and the usual limits on what an iframe can tell the page around it about a completed action still apply.
