Cliniko

Pick Cliniko if your caseload includes Medicare, DVA or Australian health fund claiming, or you simply want a vendor built for an Australian clinic with AU-relevant help documentation.

Jane App

Only consider Jane if you are comfortable billing and reconciling in Canadian dollars and do not need Medicare, DVA or HICAPS claiming built in, since Jane's own help centre does not document Australian billing support.

What it costs

Cliniko bills in USD; Jane bills in CAD. Neither vendor's pricing page states an AUD figure, so both are shown in their own currency rather than converted, and the real AUD cost of either depends on the exchange rate on your billing date. GST/AU tax treatment is not stated on either pricing page.. Prices captured 25 Sep 2026 from Cliniko and Jane App.

Declared bias and what this page is for

FFP Digital builds websites and online booking and tracking setups for physio and allied health clinics, working with whichever practice software a clinic already runs. We are not a reseller for Cliniko or Jane and neither pays us for this page. Because Jane is a North American product, we have spent more time here checking what it does and does not support for an Australian clinic before comparing price.

Two currencies, one clearly built for Australia

Cliniko was built in Melbourne and, while it bills in US dollars everywhere, its help centre and integrations (Tyro Health for Medicare, DVA and health fund claims) are written for an Australian clinic. Jane App started in North Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2011, and its pricing page shows Canadian dollars only, with no country selector and no AUD figure anywhere we could find. If you run payroll and take payments in AUD, every Jane invoice needs converting by hand or through your bank.

The billing gap that matters more than the price

We searched Jane's help centre for anything covering Australia, HICAPS or Medicare Australia and found nothing. Its insurance billing support is organised into Canadian, US and UK categories only. Cliniko, by contrast, processes Medicare, DVA and health fund claims through its Tyro Health integration, which is the same claiming partner splose uses. If your clinic bills Medicare, DVA or private health funds for a meaningful share of its work, that gap is a bigger factor than the currency difference.

What the plans cost

Jane's Practice plan includes 1 full-time practitioner for CAD$79 a month, then CAD$30 for each additional full-time practitioner or CAD$15 for part-time (under 24 booked hours a week). Its cheaper Balance plan covers a single practitioner for CAD$54 but caps you at 20 appointments a month, which most clinics will outgrow quickly. Cliniko's tiers hold flat across a practitioner range instead of charging per head, so growing from 2 to 5 practitioners costs the same US$95 throughout.

Common complaints and catches

Cliniko

  • Priced in US dollars only, so the AUD cost moves with the exchange rate on your billing date
  • Cliniko's pricing page does not say whether GST is added for Australian accounts

Jane App

  • Priced in Canadian dollars only, with no AUD figure or country selector found on its site
  • No Australian, Medicare or HICAPS billing category found in Jane's own help centre index

Switching between them

Patient records and appointments typically move by CSV export and import between either platform; check the destination vendor's help centre for the exact fields it accepts. Moving to Jane, plan for reconciling CAD invoices against an AUD bank account before you commit, and confirm directly with Jane how Australian Medicare, DVA or HICAPS claims would be handled, since its own documentation does not describe this.

FFP Digital is a ServiceM8 developer and builds for Cliniko clinics. We have tried to be fair; prices are the vendors' own published figures on the date shown.
