Online bookings
How to add Nookal online bookings to your clinic website
Nookal generates a Button Code, a Text Link or a plain URL from Setup > Online Bookings > Generating a Link, all of which redirect patients to Nookal's own hosted booking page. Nookal's own tracking documentation recommends against embedding Online Bookings inside an iframe, so treat the link and button options as the supported path, not just the easy one.

- Method
- Hosted booking page (bookings.nookal.com or a region variant) reached by a Button Code, Text Link or plain URL; Nookal advises against embedding it in an iframe
- On mobile
- Nookal's Online Bookings page is a Single Page App hosted on Nookal's own domain, so like Jane's hosted page it should behave the same on a phone as it does inside Nookal's own testing. What changes on mobile is patience: with no iframe to hide inside, a slow load on mobile data is more visible to the patient, so keep the Button Code high on the page rather than buried after a long scroll.
- Can you track bookings?
- Yes. Nookal supports native Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager and Facebook Pixel integrations, each installed with an ID pasted into a location's Online Bookings settings, and each fires a purchase event automatically when a booking completes, regardless of payment status. The catch is Nookal's own instruction not to embed Online Bookings in an iframe, because that breaks the very tracking it just told you to install.
Add Nookal bookings to any website builder
- In Nookal, work through Setup > Online Bookings: set up Staff for Online Bookings, Services for Online Bookings and, if relevant, Classes for Online Bookings, so patients only see practitioners and appointment types you intend to make bookable.
- Set up Locations for Online Bookings, including terms, confirmation email message, intake form and lead time for each location.
- Go to Generating a Link for Online Bookings and choose a Button Code (styled HTML you can paste as-is), a Text Link, or a plain URL with no button or text, for sharing over email or social media.
- Paste the Button Code or Text Link into your website (a Custom HTML block in WordPress, an Embed or HTML element in Squarespace, Wix or Webflow) rather than into an iframe element.
- If unsure how your particular website platform handles the code, Nookal's own guide suggests checking with your website developer or IT consultant, which is a fair warning that this step is more platform dependent than most.
- Test a full booking on a phone and a desktop before sending traffic to the page.
Track the bookings
- Paste your GA4 Measurement ID or GTM Container ID into Setup > Online Bookings > Locations, under the location's tracking settings.
- Read our Nookal bookings tracking guide for the single page app trigger quirk and the cross domain domains you need to add.
Three link types, one destination
Nookal's Generating a Link for Online Bookings guide offers three formats from the same screen: a Button Code styled ready to paste, a Text Link for inline placement, and a plain URL "without any button or text that can easily be shared over email and on social media." All three redirect the patient to the same place, Nookal's own hosted Online Bookings page, described in Nookal's tracking documentation as running on domains such as bookings.nookal.com and book.nookal.com, or region specific variants.
That consistency matters because it means the choice between Button Code, Text Link and plain URL is purely about where and how you place it on your site, not a trade off in features or tracking, unlike the embed versus link decision some other vendors in this cluster force you to make.
Why Nookal tells you not to use an iframe
This is worth stating plainly because it cuts against how most website builders would naturally want to add a booking calendar: Nookal's own tracking documentation says to "avoid embedding our Online Bookings inside iframe elements," citing browser changes that make iframes "unreliable when paired with tracking services." The same warning appears again in Nookal's Facebook Pixel guide.
In other words, the vendor that gives you the most complete native tracking in this cluster is also the one explicitly telling you not to use the display method, an iframe, that would make its booking page look most seamlessly part of your site. Use the Button Code or Text Link instead, and accept that patients will land on a Nookal address, styled with your logo and colours if you have set that up in Nookal, rather than staying inside your own page.
Getting the right practitioners and services in front of patients
Before generating a link, Nookal's setup sequence has you configure which Staff, Services and, where relevant, Classes are available for online booking, and which Locations they are tied to. Skipping straight to Generating a Link without finishing that setup risks publishing a booking page that either shows practitioners who should not be publicly bookable, or is missing services patients actually want, which is a worse first impression than a slightly delayed launch.
