Lodging a gas Notice of Completion in Western Australia
A Western Australian gasfitter must submit a Notice of Completion for gasfitting work, a requirement of the Gas Standards (Gasfitting and Consumer Gas Installations) Regulations 1999, lodged through the gas eNotice system. It goes to both the customer and the Director of Energy Safety, the WA gas safety regulator within Building and Energy.

Homeowner? If you had gasfitting work done in WA, you should receive a Notice of Completion: it's sent to you directly through the gasfitter's eNotice lodgement, not something you need to request separately.
What the certificate must show
- That the work specified complies with the Gas Standards (Gasfitting and Consumer Gas Installations) Regulations 1999
- For mobile engine work: confirmation that the appropriate badges and labels have been fixed to the engine
Produce it from a ServiceM8 job
- In Settings > Forms > Add Form, create a form called Gas job WA.
- Add Text for eNotice reference number and Date for Date lodged, both required.
- Add Multiple Choice for Work type with options Standard gasfitting / Mobile engine, and for Mobile engine add a Checkbox for Badges and labels fitted.
- Attach the form to a job badge such as Gas Notice of Completion lodged and make it mandatory before the job can be marked complete.
- Store the eNotice reference in the job diary so the customer's copy of the notice can be traced back to the job without re-opening the government portal.
A requirement of the Regulations, not a courtesy
Submitting a Notice of Completion after gasfitting work is a requirement of the Gas Standards (Gasfitting and Consumer Gas Installations) Regulations 1999, made under the Gas Standards Act 1972. It is lodged through the gas eNotice system, which Building and Energy's guidance describes as having automated data entry from meter information, address validation, and automatic entry of the gas fitter's and company's details, aimed at cutting down the paperwork on each job.
Two recipients, one notice
The completed Notice of Completion goes to two places: the customer, and the Director of Energy Safety, the statutory regulator responsible for gas safety across production, transmission, distribution and use in Western Australia, including consumer installations and worker and contractor licensing. That dual delivery is built into the system rather than something the gasfitter chases separately.
Mobile engines are a named case
For gas work on mobile engines, a registered gas fitter holding a Class E permit certifies compliance by submitting a Notice of Completion to both the customer and the Director, after fixing the appropriate badges and labels to the engine. It follows the same notice and dual delivery pattern as other gasfitting work, with the badge and label step added on top.
A separate system from plumbing eNotice
Gas eNotice and plumbing eNotice are two different online systems under Building and Energy, not one shared platform. A licensed plumber lodging a plumbing Notice of Intention or Certificate of Compliance uses the plumbing eNotice service; a gasfitter uses gas eNotice for the same kind of before and after paperwork on gas work. If your business does both trades, expect two logins and two habits, not one.
Building the habit into ServiceM8
Add a mandatory job badge such as Gas Notice of Completion lodged that can't be ticked off until the eNotice submission is done, and a Text field in the job for the eNotice reference or confirmation number so it's searchable later without logging back into the government portal. For mobile engine work, add a separate Checkbox for Badges and labels fitted before the notice can be marked lodged, matching the order the regulator expects."
