ServiceM8

Pick ServiceM8 if your job volume is variable or high relative to headcount, you want unlimited users at a flat plan fee, and you are comfortable building custom forms through an add-on directory.

AroFlo

Pick AroFlo if you want every feature switched on for every user from day one, run a compliance heavy trade like electrical or fire, and would rather a predictable per-user cost than a job-credit ceiling.

What it costs

AUD per month. ServiceM8 publishes GST inclusive prices. AroFlo does not state a currency or GST treatment on its pricing page; figures here are AroFlo's own dollar amounts, shown as published.. Prices captured 25 Sep 2026 from ServiceM8 and AroFlo.

Plan1 user3 users8 usersHow we worked it out
ServiceM8Starter, Growing, Premium (by job volume)$29$79$149Plan chosen by assumed job volume, not user count: a low-volume solo trader fits Starter (50 jobs) at $29; a 3 person crew averaging 120 jobs a month fits Growing (150 jobs) at $79; an 8 person crew averaging 400 jobs a month fits Premium (500 jobs) at $149. All GST inclusive, unlimited users.
AroFloSingle plan (all features)Not available$240$640 or lessAroFlo requires a 3 user minimum, so there is no 1 user price. 3 users: 3 x $80 = $240. 8 users: 8 x $80 = $640 at the undiscounted starting rate; AroFlo says the real rate is lower at volume but does not publish by how much.

Declared bias: we build on ServiceM8

FFP Digital is a ServiceM8 developer and has no commercial relationship with AroFlo. We have priced both from their own current pages and tried to be fair to AroFlo's genuinely different, all-in-one plan structure rather than judging it against ServiceM8's job-credit model.

Two completely different ways of charging

ServiceM8 has five plans priced by how many job cards you create a month, from Free at $0 (30 jobs) up to Premium Plus at $349 (1,500 jobs); every paid plan includes unlimited users. AroFlo runs one plan for everyone, at $80 per user a month with a 3 user minimum, and says that per-user rate falls as headcount grows, without publishing the schedule.

The result: a small crew doing lots of short jobs can find ServiceM8's job allowance the binding constraint long before its headcount would suggest, while AroFlo's cost tracks headcount directly and does not care how many jobs each person opens in a day. A compliance heavy business (electrical, fire, HVAC) doing fewer, asset-tracked jobs per technician is likelier to find AroFlo's flat per-user model predictable; a business with highly variable job volume, like a test and tag operator, is likelier to find ServiceM8's job-based pricing cheaper.

Asset tracking, compliance forms and what happens if you leave

AroFlo's single plan includes inbuilt compliance and safety forms and connects to Master Electricians Australia, NECA and BlueSafe, alongside Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon for accounting; ServiceM8 covers client owned assets with site location and a public API plus add-on directory for building custom forms and reports, and integrates with MYOB online without a desktop connector. Neither vendor's pricing page spells out offline field access for AroFlo the way ServiceM8's own feature page does for ServiceM8, which states field staff can open job details with no signal and sync once coverage returns; AroFlo's site lists "Offline access" as a feature on a third party software directory without describing its scope.

On leaving: ServiceM8 exports client and job records by CSV, though private add-ons and custom forms do not travel with the export. AroFlo's own pages describe CSV links to its accounting integrations but do not set out a job history or forms export path on the pricing page, so a business planning to leave AroFlo should get that answer from AroFlo directly before signing up, not after.

Common complaints and catches

ServiceM8

  • Android app described by reviewers as needing more work than the Apple version
  • Complaints about back charges and unexpected billing on account changes
  • Feature requests reported by some users as routinely declined
  • Occasional job scheduling and technician assignment mix ups reported

AroFlo

  • Onboarding and initial setup described as clunky by some reviewers
  • Global calendar seen as short on multi location scheduling functionality
  • Interface inconsistencies reported as confusing for less experienced users
  • Support engagement described as variable by a minority of reviewers

Switching between them

Customers, job records and price list items can generally be exported by CSV from either platform for the accounting integrations both support. Custom checklists, private add-ons and compliance form templates do not move automatically in either direction, so budget time to rebuild them and run both tools side by side for one billing cycle before cancelling either.
