Declared bias: we build on ServiceM8
FFP Digital is a ServiceM8 developer and has no commercial relationship with Jobber. Jobber is a well known name for a sole trader searching for job management software, so this page prices it exactly as Jobber publishes it, in USD, rather than converting it silently and presenting the number as if Jobber quoted it in AUD.
One AU company, one that does not mention Australia at all
ServiceM8 is Sydney based and its pricing page states its prices in AUD, GST inclusive, with plans from Free at $0 up to Premium Plus at $349 a month, all with unlimited users. Jobber's pricing page states: "All prices in USD. Subscription plan prices exclude sales tax where applicable." There is no AUD figure, no GST reference and no mention of Australia anywhere on it; two-way SMS and some payment processing are, in Jobber's own words, "Available in the US, Canada & UK".
For a sole trader, that difference is not just cosmetic. A ServiceM8 subscription appears on a bank statement in AUD at a fixed, GST inclusive price that matches what is quoted. A Jobber subscription is charged in USD, so the AUD amount moves with the exchange rate each billing cycle, and most Australian cards add their own foreign transaction fee on top, a cost Jobber's page does not mention because it is not Jobber's to charge.
What Core actually costs a sole trader in AUD
Jobber's Core plan is $49 USD a month for 1 user. At the XE.com mid-market rate captured 24 September 2026 (1 USD equals 1.42581 AUD), that converts to roughly $69.86 AUD, before any card issuer conversion fee and before working out whether GST applies to an overseas digital subscription, which Jobber's page does not address either way. ServiceM8's Starter plan is $29 AUD a month, GST inclusive, for up to 50 jobs, or Free at $0 for up to 30 jobs if that is enough for a very quiet month.
On accounting, Jobber's Connect plan and above sync with QuickBooks Online; its pricing page does not name Xero or MYOB, which most Australian sole traders and their bookkeepers use. ServiceM8 integrates with MYOB online with no desktop connector and has a deep Xero integration used by many of its Australian add-ons. For a sole trader already using Xero or MYOB, that is a real practical gap on Jobber's side, not just a currency difference.
Common complaints and catches
ServiceM8
- Android app described by reviewers as needing more work than the Apple version
- Complaints about back charges and unexpected billing on account changes
- Feature requests reported by some users as routinely declined
- Occasional job scheduling and technician assignment mix ups reported
Jobber
- Reporting called limited or clunky for larger operations by some reviewers
- Bugs after platform updates reported, including errors affecting quote generation
- Integration and API issues reported, including timeouts causing duplicate data
- Price rises over time cited by long term customers as a reason to consider switching
Switching between them
Customers and price list items generally move by CSV between the two. A sole trader switching from Jobber should also change how the subscription is recorded in their books, since it moves from a USD charge to an AUD one; check with your bookkeeper how each was treated for GST before the switch.
