What changed this year

  • The podiatry price limit is unchanged for 2026-27: item 01_663_0128_1_3 held at $188.99 national, $264.59 remote and $283.49 very remote, the same figures as the schedule effective 24 November 2025.
  • Podiatry is one of five conditions the NDIA names as a disability-related health support alongside dysphagia, continence, wound and pressure care and diabetes, which affects how consumables used in a podiatry session are billed rather than the hourly rate itself.
  • Podiatry prices just under occupational therapy and speech pathology at $193.99 and just above dietetics at $178.99, in the mid-band of NDIS therapy disciplines for 2026-27.

What NDIS pays for podiatry in 2026-27

The NDIS Pricing Schedule for 2026-27, effective 1 July 2026, holds the podiatry price limit at $188.99 an hour nationally, item 01_663_0128_1_3, unchanged from the arrangements that ran from 24 November 2025. Remote areas carry the standard 40 per cent loading to $264.59 and very remote areas a 50 per cent loading to $283.49.

A second item number, 15_619_0128_1_3, prices identically and simply reflects that podiatrists can register with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission under either of two professional registration groups. Which one a provider uses does not change what a participant pays.

Why consumables are not part of the hourly rate

Podiatry is one of the disability-related health supports the NDIA calls out by name, alongside dysphagia, continence, wound and pressure care and diabetes management. That classification matters for consumables. Padding, dressings, debridement supplies used during a session, and items such as custom orthotics or splints provided for a participant to keep, are priced separately in the NDIS Assistive Technology, Home Modifications and Consumables Code Guide rather than being absorbed into the $188.99 hourly item.

In practice this means a podiatry invoice for a wound care or orthotic fitting session often has two lines: the clinical time against 01_663_0128_1_3, and the consumable or device against its own AT or consumables code, priced to its invoiced cost rather than a flat hourly rate.

Travel and cancellation

Provider travel prices at exactly half the direct rate, $94.50 an hour, which is worth itemising separately given how much podiatry work happens in a participant's home or in residential aged care rather than in a clinic. Short notice cancellation lets you claim up to 100 per cent of the fee where the participant gave less than 2 clear business days' notice or did not show up.

Setting these up as billable items in Cliniko

Cliniko's billable item import and bulk price update tools handle the session item and its travel and cancellation companions in one pass. Consumables need their own billable items, priced to the invoiced cost on the day rather than a fixed hourly figure, so reception can add them to the same invoice as the clinical time without exceeding the NDIS price limit for either line.

Claiming notes

Load these fees into your practice software

  1. Create the billable item under Settings, then Billable items, with Item code 01_663_0128_1_3, or bulk import it via CSV using Cliniko's billable item import fields (Item code, Name, Price ex. tax, Item type).
  2. Set up podiatry consumables (dressings, padding, orthotics) as separate billable items priced to the invoiced cost rather than bundled into the session item, since the NDIS price limit for the hourly item does not include them.
  3. Add a provider travel item (01_663_0128_1_3_PT at $94.50) for home and aged care visits, which are common in podiatry caseloads.
  4. Refresh prices each 1 July with Cliniko's bulk price update: export billable items, edit the price column, then re-import with only the price field enabled. There is no undo, so keep the original export.
  5. Cliniko's Tyro Health integration is scoped to DVA and Medicare claiming; there is no equivalent NDIS pathway described in its help centre. A podiatry invoice, consumables line included, goes to the participant or plan manager to pay in the ordinary way.
