ServiceM8

ServiceM8 suits a business that wants unlimited users at a flat plan fee and is happy to track its cost against jobs created, not people employed; check your own monthly job card count before picking a tier.

What it costs

AUD per month, GST inclusive, billed monthly. ServiceM8's paid plans include unlimited users, so the price is the same whether 1, 3 or 8 people are logged in; what changes the price is the monthly job card allowance, shown in the note.. Prices captured 25 Sep 2026 from ServiceM8.

Plan1 user3 users8 usersHow we worked it out
ServiceM8Free$0n/an/a30 jobs a month, capped at 1 user. Not usable once a second person needs a login, regardless of job volume.
ServiceM8Starter$29$29$2950 jobs a month, unlimited users. Same $29 whether 1, 3 or 8 people are logged in; the limit that matters is 50 job cards, not headcount.
ServiceM8Growing$79$79$79150 jobs a month, unlimited users. Fits a solo tradie doing high volume small jobs just as much as a 3 person crew doing fewer, larger ones.
ServiceM8Premium$149$149$149500 jobs a month, unlimited users. An 8 person crew doing longer jobs can sit comfortably inside this allowance; a 3 person crew doing high volume small jobs might already need it too.
ServiceM8Premium Plus$349$349$3491,500 jobs a month, unlimited users, then 20c per extra job. For businesses whose job count, not headcount, has outgrown Premium.

Declared bias: we build on ServiceM8

FFP Digital builds custom forms, reports and private add-ons for businesses running ServiceM8, so we have a direct financial interest in the platform doing well. That is exactly why this page sticks to ServiceM8's own published numbers rather than our opinion of them, including the add-on costs that are easy to miss on the pricing page itself.

We do not receive a commission from ServiceM8 for traffic to this page.

The plan ladder is built on job credits, not seats

ServiceM8 charges by how many job cards you open each month, not by how many people log in. Free costs nothing and allows 30 jobs for a single user. Starter is $29 a month for 50 jobs. Growing is $79 for 150 jobs. Premium is $149 for 500 jobs. Premium Plus is $349 for 1,500 jobs, after which extra jobs cost 20 cents each. Converting a quote into a work order does not use a second credit. Every paid plan carries unlimited users at no extra charge, so a fifth or sixth tradie costs nothing until the job count pushes you into the next tier.

Two running costs sit on top of the plan fee. SMS is bundled on a sliding scale, from none included on Free (10 cents each, pay as you go) up to 3,000 or more on Premium Plus, with overage billed at 10 cents a message on every plan. Card payments processed through ServiceM8 carry a percentage plus 30 cents per transaction, and that percentage drops as you move up the plan ladder: 2.10% on Free down to 1.49% on Premium and Premium Plus. A separate product, ServiceM8 Phone, starts from $29 a month with its own one month trial and is not bundled into any of the five plans above.

Three businesses, five plans: why headcount is the wrong question

A sole trader running test and tag work can create more job cards in a week than a much bigger crew doing longer jobs, because every appliance tested can be its own job card. A technician logging 60 to 70 small jobs a month on their own would already be over the Starter allowance and need Growing, even working solo.

A 3 person general trade crew doing a mix of service calls and small installs, at roughly 100 to 120 jobs a month between them, also fits Growing at $79, with headroom before Premium is needed.

An 8 person crew doing fewer, longer jobs (renovations, larger installs, multi day projects) might only create 250 to 300 job cards a month between eight people, which still sits inside Premium at $149, cheaper per person than the 3 person crew above on the same plan tier per head. Count last month's job cards before you assume plan cost tracks team size; on ServiceM8 it does not.

Common complaints and catches

ServiceM8

  • Android app described by reviewers as needing more work than the Apple version
  • Complaints about back charges and unexpected billing on account changes
  • Feature requests to ServiceM8 reported by some users as routinely declined
  • Occasional job scheduling and technician assignment mix ups
  • Support response times inconsistent for a minority of reviewers despite a generally responsive reputation

Switching to or from it

Moving onto ServiceM8 from a spreadsheet, paper system or another job tool, clients and price list items import by CSV; job history and completed forms have to be rebuilt or migrated manually. Moving off ServiceM8, exports cover clients and job records, but private add-ons and custom forms do not travel with you.

FFP Digital is a ServiceM8 developer and builds for Cliniko clinics. We have tried to be fair; prices are the vendors' own published figures on the date shown.
